Our First Aid for Mental Health childcare course is designed to help you foster a culture of positive mental health in the workplace and recognizing potential risks to employee mental health in your workspace. The course addresses frequently reported conditions in the workplace, positive measures which can be used to mitigate risk and having difficult conversations relating to mental health. This taster course provides an interesting and informative introduction to an important area of focus for HR and Supervisors/Managers.

Within the protocol it states: “In the event that first aid is required in the workplace it may not be possible to maintain a distance of 2 metres. Workers with a specific role in acting as first aiders should be provided with updated training on infection prevention and control principles including performance of hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective equipment when delivering first aid.”

Children First E-Learning Programme
Tusla has worked with the DCYA and HSE to developed a universal e-learning training programme called ‘Introduction to Children First’. The programme has been written to support people of all backgrounds and experience in recognising concerns about children and reporting such concerns if they arise. The programme is based on Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and the Children First Act 2015. The programme takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete but it can be done in a number of sittings. The programme will allow you to log back in and resume where you left off. It covers topics including:
- Recognising and reporting child abuse;
- The role of mandated persons;
- The responsibilities of organisations working with children to safeguard children;
- The role of designated liaison persons.
You will need to create an account using an email address to log in and complete the progamme. This allows you to complete the training gradually over time. When you have completed the programme, you will receive a certificate of completion directly to your email address.

This 4 hour paediatric first aid course was specifically designed with infants and children in mind to teaching life saving skills. This course is ideal for teachers, parents, childcare professionals, expecting mothers and babysitters. With major emphasis on dealing with accidents that happen to children from newborn to eight years of age. This unique course will give you the skills to deal with all first aid and medical emergencies that occur with this age group. Following successful completion of the course participants will be awarded an “Paediatric First Aid certificate which is valid for 2 years.
This comprehensive 4 hour online course is particularly suited to parents, family members and those that work with and care for young children or are likely to have to respond to child emergencies in the home, workplace or in the community. Participants will gain the necessary theoretical knowledge in basic first aid skills enabling them to deal competently and confidently with common injuries and illnesses affecting children and infants.
